What is Kamal
by BostonTechee on Jun 13, 2008 02:21 AM   Permalink | Hide replies

What does he mean when he says Kamal "Sir"? Sir used as a suffix is only when you are knighted or confired a knighthood by the Queen of England..!!!

Indian eqvivalent is a simply a "Shri"
Kamaljee or Shri Kamal, or why not just say Kamal??? surely Kamal woudnt mind. why have the British terminology and colonial suffixes for a Indian actor ?

Siror Madam (as used in india-not in Uk) are terms as respectful as Shree or Ji in india.

If people need to address seniors in india with names, then it wouldnt be respectful culture!!!!!!!

Hey lunkhead. Get your history right. Britain and England copied our Shri and made it Sir. Check out Wikipedia for more info. Besides Kamal has a Padma Shri which is our equivalent for SIR.
