This is absolutely ridiculous. Why place Gandhi statues in New York. Gandhi was a great Indian leader, not an American leader. Would we Indians allow a statue of George Washington to be placed in Delhi or Mumbai - absolutely not. Americans likewise will not appreciate Gandhi statues placed at public landmarks. Stop pushing our leaders and culture on other people.
By the way, most Indians did not come to America through Ellis Island, so why have a Gandhi statute on Ellis Island? These kinds of projects will lead to friction between us and local residents. STOP ALL THIS MADNESS.
