say which suits the occasion !

True... Hindi is our national language. But above all the language is meant for better communication. So, one should always try to use the language of majority where you are speaking for the convenience.

Mrs. Jaya Bachchan's statement seems nothing but an act of leg pulling (... remember past comments from Mr. Bal Thackery)at wrong place.

Media should restrain from making hype of these little things of no use.

what if this perticular function would have been in south or eastern state, would she had spoken in hindi only?
It is not that everybody should speak only in regional language but it is about showing some respect about the place where you are earning your bread and getting fame?

Mr. tc... respect doesn't come from the language you choose to speak ... but it comes from your way of talking, actions, intentions and manners etc.

one can speak in any language where ever in india....till you get your message through in a decent manner....if it is a gujrato function in Mharashtra whats the harm in speaking in gujrati....language is for communbiactyion and not for exhibiting loyalty to state...the love ofr india should come from with in and not by languages...if a guy falls off a local Mumbai train give him a helping hand that is love doesn't matter if you comfort him in Hindi or marathi...he only understands language of love
