Your words show what a narrow minded person you are who is not fit to be called an Indian. People like you are the ones who insigate communal harmony and are racist to minorities. What about people's rights to practise whatever language and live wherever they chose? If you have to impose on these rights, then you might as well live in a communist nation.
People like Bal Thackeray and Raj Thackeray are two faced hypocrites who look out only for themselves and have brain washed all these alledged people who claim to follow in the "Marathi way". If they are so for the Marathi people, y are they sending their own children abroad and to English schools like Bombay Scottish? Look at the bigger picture and dont enclose your mind in a box. Think about the Nation as a whole otherwise we will partition India ourselves by our attitude towards our fellow Indians..

Dear Patrick,
Sure, you can speak whatever language you want, and practise any faith or religion. All that I am saying is that for the growth, and, at times the very survival, of a specific group, some steps have to be taken.
Please remember that India is a unique mix of several languages, cultures and religions, and each group has to be allowed to flourish. That's where the "unity in diversity" comes up. In fact, I am advocating that diversity, which is something an autocratic regime will always oppose, whether communist or Hindi-belt-North-Indian. Please think about what I am saying.
I do not think you can call the Thackerays hypocrites, except in that the very Marathi cause which they grew on has been now abandoned by (some of) them. In fact, I can assure you that there is a Marathi way, same as there is a Bengali way, or a Tamil way, or a Goan way. It is good to support such ways.
A language defines a group. Look at the French, and the Germans. They insist on their languages, and that does not make them any less "broad-minded". In fact, there's no point ignoring your ailing mother (tongue) and go serve others'.
To that extent, I agree with you about English-medium schools. But, alternate is not to switch to Hindi-medium ones, is what I am saying. And, please see that I am advocating English for two reasons. First, it brings FAIRNESS; no (Indian) language group has an upper hand. Secondly, it is the language in which world's knowledge is available.
