The book is an international bestseller, and the movie is a Hollywood production.

Red Chillies...I have read your responses to a few topics ...Scarlett case, now Shantaram....you are quite a critical charatcer, arent you?xx A literary piece should be judged based on the quality of story and the writing and not based on the character of the author. What does the author's character have to do with whether a book is an exciting read or not...seperate the two.

Well, that's exactly my point and the point a whole lot of other people are making besides offcourse over a million readers ... they like the book, they think it a "good thing".
Incidentally, have you read the book or is that you have just read about the book and the author?
