I have not seen GOAL and neither do I intend to. I believe that the reviewer has written sense. Two things are important for a movie, acting and plot. Both seem highly suspect. The plot of a movie like Fanaa was weak, but the acting fantastic. In a movie like Ek Pal, the acting was okay, but the plot (copied from Western movies) fantastic.
In Goal, acting wise, the only person I rate highly is Arshad Warsi and he isn't even the leading man. John Abraham looks great, but cannot act. I didn't even like his acting in the much acclaimed 'Water'. Same goes for Bipasha, tho I think she acts better than John.
That leaves the plot. The story seems terrible, abso uninspirational, unlike CHAK DE (which was fanstastic) I live in the UK. Some amount of racism exists in the UK (less than in India tho), but in sports there are people of all colors.
Without plot or acting, the only reason to go to wactch the movie would be to see John or Bipasha ---- model.

Finally! Also haven't seen the film but was irking to support at least the structure and intention of the review, especially considering the overwhelming negativity this forum is seeing!

I can only conclude that the people who like Raja Sen's reviews, read it, enjoy it, and don't comment much on the message boards. While the one's who cannot stand negative reviews just go on a rampage !!!

ya. they can't stand positive reviews either...see the Om Shanti Om board. Clearly, they can't stand anything. They just have to trash everything...coz as they say "Public sab janati hai". Interestingly, it's only the "Public" that says this.
