Bhansali reels from one disaster to another
by Truth Be Told on Nov 09, 2007 07:39 AM   Permalink | Hide replies

Bhansali would have been very much at home selling peanuts at the traffic light junction with loud chants, exhortations & the occasional caper to attract prospective customers. Instead fate propelled him from being a below average assistant director who needed his butt kicked for many more years to have any hopes of becoming an average director eventually to one who hogs the limelights literally and shamelessly. HDDCS can be summed up briefly as the movie where Salman Khan farts loudly not once but several times and expects to be commended for the act. One can visualize Bhansali expectantly waiting for the plaudits for introducing such a decibel-breaking concept into the movie. He thereafter scaled new heights (pun intended) by spending countless millions and inadvertently succeeding in making Devdas a comical movie where the unintended comedy borders on the ludicrous.
Followed Black which had Mr. Srivastava hamming shamelessly & overacting consistently the persona he has played countless times over the years viz., the screen persona of Amitabh Bachchan.
Now Mr. Bhansali has outdone himself with Saawariya which would surely go down in the annals of the Indian film history as so many millions and so much hype over such trite tripe. Unless it rakes in the big bucks at the box office, which appears extremely unlikely, one can visualize heads rolling at Sony. Meanwhile gear yourself for Bhansali shooting off his mouth ad nauseam & patting himself on the back for his latest epic.

As long as you promise to watch Bhansali's disasters over & over again, prior to getting committed, I might just take you up on that.
