madhuri became no 1 because of lack of competition. she ruled because of monopoly. if she had been an actress of today she would not have been so successful. she used media a lot. she used to give interviews & grace covers of filmi magazines every month!

yes agree with u..others lk divya bharti wud hv been mch ahead of her..her dances were hits rather than her performances..and people here talking of HAHK,dil,beta,raja all r v ordinary movies any actress can perform...no big deal..she never utilized her talent in the right way and neither did her directors..she rejected gud films like astitva,khamoshi,agnisakshi just for those nautanki films like rajkumar,yarana,premgranth..she just wanted dance movies with al backless cholis and sexy costumes..and now again dance film of yash chopra who always exposes his heroines like in dil to pagal hai..otherwise she wud hv been in the films of intelligent directors like sanjay,madhur etc..anyways fans wont accept this..but i guess shes mch bttr than ash..but not really worth on no 1 no...thr r many more talented than her..sorry

Madhuri had stiff competition during her times where the focus was on dancing, acting and emoting. You cant say that. Y didnt she act with ash in Devdas. Ash was at the pinnacle of her career in Devdas. Still many people loved Madhuri and what about Juhi, Kajol??? Arent they great actresses. You are saying as if Madhuri was 50 years old when Kajol, Karisma joined this industry. You have to note one think that atleast like today's top actresses she dint overexpose. She always believed in doing character roles, so man before criticising her take a look at what roles today's actresses are doing

ofcourse todays actresses r bullshit except rani,preity,tabu,konkana,kareena (some films),urmila, but otherwise also maduri nvr did any different pwerful films..evn juhi is now trying doing differnt gr8 films.mads only took more dancing films..ash cant act bt her choice of films is mch bttr thn of madhuris..she did commercial but dint concentrate just on dance..she did try mistress,provoked,guru...thr r many more bttr actresses thn mads and that too in all departments..so shes not the godess..all her roles lk hahk,dilto pagal hai,yarana,were just very general roles any one can caryy them...and i bet still she wont try diff roles she wud just to stick to jhatak matak dancing roles...same in lajja,devdas,..really the golden gals like vyanjatimala,waheeda,nutan,sri,hema,jaya bacchan were all best and nvr exposed so mch as mads did in dayavan,raja,parinda,premgranth(showing only her back),yarana,khalnayak...all jst commerical entertainers ntg else..

but otherwise also maduri nvr did any different pwerful films...how powerful wud u say mrityudand was??? have u ever seen her bit role in prahaar (of crs without her backless choli dance moves and without make up as well)?? what wud u like to say abt parinda??? (maybe u'd just like to talk abt her love making scene)...pls do not forget bollywood churned out either dancing commercial flicks or complete art films at that point...there weren't these slick films being made for the multiplexes....madhuri stood out among them...by the way take some time off to watch her in LAJJA...in case that makes any sense to u(sorry...it doesnt have what u like and understand....backless cholis etc)...lol

I agree, Madhuri has been amazing, is amazing & hope continues to be amazing. Whatever her age is, cant we compliment her on her work. Dont compare, but isin't her work it itself a great achievement. Which other actresses has such a variety of roles in her kity. And dont forget all her roles have been done justice to. She is too good for people to judge her. Wish U lots of luck Madhuri. Sunita

Madhuri is jst amazing...no doubt about it...whether we see her against Karisma Kapoor in Dil to pagal hai or against aishwarya rai in Devdas she's been outstanding despite of the age differences .....she is that real indian beauty in true colours .....jst incomparable....i think people who criticise her are poor judgementals ..... Madhuri had a lack of competition did she? So are you saying that Sridevi, Kajol, Manisha Koirala, Karishma Kapoor, Juhi Chawla, Rani Mukherjee, Priety Zinta, ashwariya Rai (to name just a few of those around during the height of Madhuri mania)have no talent at all? All of them have done much better films and given much better performances than the actresses doing the rounds today, and would make much more worthy competition.
Surely only someone with little understanding of the film industry would suggest that the current 'top' actresses would be seen as competition to anyone. Do you really think that presence of Kareena, Priyanka, and the Arora sisters would have made any differene to Madhuri's career had they entered the industry at the same time.
And speaking of competition, Madhuri has never shyed away from appearing in films with her competition of all ages, e.g Manisha, Karishma and Priety...in fact it was Juhi Chawla who turned down Dil To Pagal Hai for fear of being compared.
