I dont get it...i simply dont get it. I have never ever seen a rediff reviewer saying bad about any english movie! and when it comes to indian movies, they start comparing to english flicks and start degrading them!
Come on dude! grow up. I have seen 'Shoot out...' and i simply love that film. Every character was carved so well, that it fitted to the T.
Die hard is an old flick with some new action sequences! I dont get the fact that why is it being taken on such a high note!
No one mentioned 'the last legion' in any review, which starred our very own Aishwarya. It was a good movie, with Ben kingsley, and Colin Firth, and even the young ceasar doing its part to great extent!
Please grow up guys! I have written it million times in other reviews as well!

I totally agree with Mr.Amrit. Mr.Fahad I do also agree with you but to some extent only. Indian movies are good .. but very very few like Mother India or Lagaan ..once in a blue moon. Whereas its the reverse in Hollywood. English movies are bad very rarely. Once in a Blue moon. Those who appreciate good cinema and good technical brilliance will sway toward English movies. No extra makeup , no unnecessary cry baby scenes, no running behind trees or rolling on hills in foeign countries or getting wet under waterfalls and most importantly these movies have no masala. English movies are either completely Comedy or COmpletely Adult or Fully Adventure based. Well categorized and people can watch what they want. Some are fully unbelievable with 100% Special EFX. So those who like those can watch those. Like Matrix , Lord of Rings etc... They dont mix up SENSE WITH NONSENSE...Thats why even I love watching English movies. Before releasing the movie itself MOTION PICTURE ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA categorises it into suitable category and even puts the Age restriction and even says clearly in the certificate if MODERATE VIOLENCE or EXTREME VIOLENCE OR ADULT CONTENT or PARENTAL GUIDANCE is advised. But in Apna Hindi pictures and Indian movies.. so much vulgarity and suddenly in whats called Family movie or categorised by Censor Board as "U" also... so much of sleazy ITEM Nos. and Cleavage show and thunder thighs are seen..Hero breaks into song and kisses heroine's stomach and navel and

Fahad your point is valid in some cases; definitely not all. One of the reasons we see bias in favour of english movies and against hindi movies is, that only good movies, or movies backed by big production houses come to us. Also, we get to see every hindi movie however it is. There are plenty bad english movies. And they come all the time on HBO or Star. For Hindi movies, another negative is, that very few directors dare to do things differently. Shootout... could have BEEN a great movie, it had a gr8 theme, with a slicker script and direction. Professionalism is missing in most of the movies. Even the EFX that are put in our movies are not that cool, coz they are half-hearted attempts to ape Eng flicks, when we should have done things differently. They look pathetic compared to slick movies from Hollywood, who might not have anything besides cool stunts and EFX. Take Keanu Reaves in "Johnny Mnemonic" for example. Finally, there are some Bollywood producers who are out to make a fast buck by producing totally mindless movies like "Ta Ra Rum Pum" or "Jhoom Barabar Jhoom", which gives Bollywood still further a bad name.

dude... talking about comparisons... try to compare the bollywood super hero Mr. KRISH vs. SPIDER MAN, SUPER MAN, FANTASTIC 4... and the soon to come TRANSFORMERS !!! You already have an answer to your question.
And bollywood... yes it is surely coming of age... but then imagine a movie like DEVDAS being nominated for Oscars... phew... that surely makes me biased towards hollywood anytime :)
