I do not understand this whole hullabaloo about the blood and eye banks.
I really do not mean to take anything away from a good cause, but:
1. Anyone who's reached that position in wealth and success will anyway do something for society - there's nothing special about Chiranjeevi. You'll feel lousy if you keep all your money for yourself - and guilty too if you believe in religion.
2. And if you are a star with great mass appeal, you _have_ to do something so your fans can crow about you being a great human being, and so they have something to retaliate when people call Rajnikant great and humble.
3. Also, if you have to keep alive a possibility of a political career when your movie career gets over, you have to have some philanthropic track record.
4. How much money does Chiranjeevi himself need to spend for these blood and eye banks? Like someone below said, it is mostly the fans' free effort. Did he build a world-class heart hospital that serves poor people for free while paying huge salaries to doctors each month? He certainly has the money.
Like I said, a good deed is a good deed - let's not take away from it. It's just this whole big deal his fans make out of the blood and eye banks that is frustrating. It seems peanuts for what Chiranjeevi really _can_ do if he his heart is really bleeding for society.
I do not think anyone will disagree that he's made enough money now - let him declare that all his earnings from hereon will go to charity. Will he?

Eventhough I understand your view point I beg to differ on many grounds. Why only filmy people need to shed their money? What abut the blady policiticians (who takes our votes including ur valuable vote and also suckes out blood) whose doors people like you don't knock (if they dont open - pl break it). Is one super speciality hospital will meet the requirement to declare to the whole world that some body is generous.
Mr. One incidence I would like to narrate. When a person (probably a fan) died when there was stampede at a function in Guntur (on the occassion of Gharana Mogudu celebrations) it is Nagababu (silentely and personally) went to the victim hous and handedover some compensation to the surviving members of the died person. In India we have people like goats and dogs ( in mass) and we always need leaders/mentors to direct us. With his magical power, probably he would be advising those lakhs of people like that. Else on whose saying others are doing such a good deeds in the state of AP? Think before u pen again
