not a big deal

I believe rdb is one of the finest films that came out of india in a very long time, both technically and screenplay wise....about bafta, all i believe is that "rdb" needs a predominantly indian mind to understand the parallels drawn about our pre independence and today...it might not get taht well understood by a predominantly european jury....if you take an example and assume that "schindler's list" gets nominated for screen awards for best foreign film, and indians votes for it....i think its more about emotional and informational connect....still iam very proud that "rdb" was shortlisted in that category....way to go...cheers

I hope you have seen 'Labyrinth,' dude. Then you would know the difference between excellent films and those of the ilk of the Rang De Basantis. The awards are given away to the best in a competing category. Not to 'the finest films' coming out of India or elsewhere.

i completly agree with you sultan, i havent saw "labyrinth" i surely believe that it is a great film....the point i was trying to make is that every film works on a emotional connect, which are based upon the information we gather as individuals...and "labyrinth" might works wonder in that....but the same is a handicap for "rdb"....there was no intention to say that the film which has recieved the award has any less merit...

You have to make films like PL to get awards. RDB , cut the songs, melodrama, and some silly scenes. it would have got an award. One eye for boxoffice ( Indian audience and Overseas Indian audience will not do) and the other eye on award at international level awards will not do.
