I have seen a lot of SRK-bashing in the recent days. I wish it were related and limited to the inane KANK role that he did last year. Unfortunately, a lot of negative comments are about the PERSON. I can only think that it is because we are sometimes unable to accept that a person, who is just like us in every way is so successful. Shahrukh has always maintained that he is an entertainer. I don't think he has EVER crossed boundaries. No court cases, no money-swindling, no associations with underworld dons or politicians (unless of course you count the courtesy relations that people in his position have to have), no tax-evasion. People weren't finding anything negative to say about him. At the same time they found it difficult to believe that a person could be so successful, without resorting to 'negative' or 'dishonest' activities. Now with his past few movies not doing 'as well as expected', people have got a chance to say anything! This is not right. Anyone from the common man on the street to the what-was-it.... 'Valmiki' organizations (never heard of those ones before!) is maligning the guy. Come on people! SRK is someone we should look upto. His grit, determination, talent (though, I wish he did more films like 'Swades'), honesty are attributes we should look up to. Don't let the 'crab mentality' stop us from praising a person when he is worth it. Let's own up to the fact that SRK rules! Yes, he still does.....else, there would not be so much being said about him. As 'Guru' says, "Jab log aapke baare mein bura kehne lage, to samjho ke kuchh theek kar rahe ho" :)

well written. srk-bashing will always occur. there aren't many faults to find with him, and as a person he is as genuine as it gets. like u said, he's always been and maintained that he's an entertainer, and as an entertainer...he's always delivered. as a human being, he is a man that i can call one of the greats. he's attained everything on his own merit and certainly the kind of life that's worth aspiring to. we all want even just a little piece of what he has, and often, instead of appreciation...jealousy becomes the form in which that is communicated through. now...in terms of his recent films not doing well...can we all put this in perspective? all of his films have done exceptionally well if u look at the facts and figures (india and abroad). he's done different kinds of roles over the past few years or so (don, kank, paheli, swades) compared to what people call his "usual." as soon as one of his movies doesn't make as much as let's say his k3g made...people say..."move over srk...blah blah is taking the throne." but blah blah (insert any other actor's name there) has probably had maybe 1 or 2 solo hits in his career compared to the numerous hits srk has had...and i'm certain this blah blah actor will never have a baazigar/ddlj/k3g/khnh/kkhh/veer zaara/swades/don/etc to his name because he'll never be a srk. i don't need to defend srk...but i want to because he is indian cinema. without him, there may be a random dhoom-2 every so 5 years that will make people run to the theaters...but there will never be the yearly srk blockbusters that we've become so used to. like they say, u don't appreciate what u have until it's gone. and srk certainly deserves our appreciation and respect.
