National language
by rational thought on Apr 02, 2007 12:17 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

Seeing some of these posts looks like the northern part of our country will never understand that Hindi is NOT a national language - only the language spoken by a majority of the impoverished part of our country.

Mr Sharma,

It is you who need to check the fact.
The fact is that India does not have a National Language. So - you would understand that Hindi is not our national language.
As a true patriot please read our constitution first and then come here and advice others.

Thanks,
Venkatesh.

Check Wikipedia, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_national_languages_of_India

"Neither the constitution nor the laws of India accord the status of "National Language" to any language in India[1]. Indian law states that no language will be made the National Language unless and until all the constituent states of the Union of India accept it. Out of the 28 states and 7 union territories, only 10 states and 3 union territories have Hindi as the principal official language."
