Time has come for Budhadev Bhattacharya to resign
by barun roy on Sep 03, 2008 04:02 AM   Permalink | Hide replies

If Mr. Bhattacharya be a bhadralok ( off course he is not) , he should resign. If he is unable to control his party, if he is unable to break a negotiation, if he is unable to keep Tata in WB he has lost the moral ground to be a CM. He should resign.
The general notion that Mamata has chased away Tata is irrelevent. The onus should be on the state Government who apart for sitting idle did nothing to keep Tata in. I am aware CPI M has a thirty year experience in chasing out industries from WB, but atleast they could have made an exception this time. But not.

This is a really amazing thing to say, given that its clear who the obstructionist party here is. Mamata has refused to negotiate despite numerous missives from the government. Save police action and resulting violence what else could Buddhadev Bhattacharya do ? Keep in mind that Mamata's party has about 30 MLA's in a house of 295 (LF has around 230) -- reflecting the overwhelming faith in the LF by th epeople in 2006 assembly elections. In a democratic set-up Mamata has to wait for the next elections -- but she probably knows her chances are nil even then.

Well I was expecting this . We are not at all result oriented . We always catch the wrong end. We do not care for accountability. Mamta is irrevelent , the state Government invited Tata promising eveything and provided nothing. The state governments performance is zero.
Result is now in front of everyone. As mentioned earlier CPI M cadres are experienced in chasing industries out , his is what they have done for last 30 years. They can not play role reversal. It is not Mamata and his few supporters motivated Tata to take this decision but it was the negative image our dearest Left Govermnent has projected all these years . I am sure if this incident would have happened anywhere else, Tata would have stayed.
But I agree with you regarding your prediction of Mamata's chances next election. She will definiely loose, but not due to people inteligence but due to its stupidity. In WB , people are ia a emotional inertia , can not accept that there could be someone else to govern. This is the legacy of the left and would bring the end of the state .
