Subsidy on diesel
by Kavi RamaMurthy on Jun 04, 2008 02:01 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

There should be dual pricing of diesel; diesel used for public transport should be subsidised but for private cars, diesel and petrol should cost the same. Diesel vehicles pollute badly and there is no reason to encourage them.

I think its fair to see the increase in the fuel price considering the global concerns and taking into considerations 40-50% increase in Crude Oil prices over the last year.

How about banning petrol altogether and forcing every vehicle to be based on Diesel only?

This will give rise to diesel back market instead of solving the problem.
