Toyota Corolla starts at less than Rs.6,00,000/- in US. Which is probably 3 month average pay for majority of US middle-class.

In India Alto sells at approximately Rs.3,20,000/- Which is perhaps average annual pay of Indian middle class.

Corolla in India sells for about Rs.11,00,000/- which is perhaps 3 years average pay of a middle-class car buyer.

I suppose buying a corolla in US is easier than buying an Alto in India.

Compare this - A swift in Singapore sells for about Rs.12,00,000/- So, be happy that we can afford cars that a typical singaporean can't! ;-)

I accept every thing from You but do you think you need a Car In Singapore ?
You can travel across this country in 1 hrs. MRT is enough for them.

Good one harsha... even if Nano comes in it will be an average of 6 months gross pay of an average indian. So once again the numbers will shoot up by the existing autorickshaw permit owners buying and selling in black. Plus it could be a 3rd car for a well heeled ... read as IT guys who live on credit cards and EMIs.

NANO will b a flop... very less avg and less top speed... engine capacity is also low... tyres size makes it a Toy Car... i dont know how it got all tests cleared by Govt Authorities... its major drawback will be engine at back not at front... its a risky car... i dont find it much useful car !! good for Auto walas on Delhi Roads... nothing more than that...

What's so bad about a rear engine? Modern Porsche 911s also are rear engined...
