In the last 25 years, civil service salaries have risen substantially. Yet, they are no comparison to private sector wage levels that have risen a hundred times in the same timeframe. The price of such disparities is psychological dysfunction among civil servants who are capable and highly motivated. India cannot short-change good governance. The prognosis for India's governance looks bleak, as good candidates for superior civil service jobs seek alternative careers.

Civil servants are bribe-hungry demons. Their salary should be half of what they are getting. Check their output and compare it to the output of an employee in private sector and then compare the salary difference

Had the salary structure of the civil servants been comparable to what the people working in the private sectors get, the corruption rate would have been very low. Who says passing the tenders in the private companies doesn%u2019t require bribing the officials in a private firm? We have stereotyped the government officials as corrupt. But we should take into consideration that when everyone is running after money, there are still some people who want to stick to their 10-20K salary jobs just because they want to work for the betterment of the society.
