Original name was Mangalapuram, renamed to Mangalore.
better to name as kudla instead of Mangaluru

Mangalapuram for Malayalam speakers who merged with Karnataka when Kasargod did.

It is Mangaluru in Kannada, Kudla in Tulu and Kodial in Konkani.

Jonas, just read history of Mangalore, original name was Mangalapuram means magala devis festival place. since most of the people r in Tulu speaking it is better to anem as Kudala.

Wat's this mangalapuram, from ancinet times it's known as mangaluru.Even all the reocrds from ancient times say it as mangaluru itself.
