Govt is making all of us fool by saying that they are giving huge sunsidy on petrolium products. In India total taxes on petrol is about 52% it means the oil company get only 24rs for a litre and 26rs goes to govt as tax and govt give about 6-10rs as subsidy :-)

On one side there is subsidy, on the other side Govt & Oil Companies together take away about 70% of the retail price in their kitty. Actully higher crude price, higher the Government earning in terms of import duty, excise duty, CST, VAT, corporate tax from oil companies.
