What does a company must do to acquire land ???
by Reporter on Jul 31, 2008 03:41 PM   Permalink

We hv seen many protests in various parts of India during the acquisition of land for industrial projects. This happens when the govt. / comapny dont consult the local before they take the decission.

What can a company do is that they can advertise / request for the required land anywhere in India . The panchayat and municipality who can offer the land must be selected. When such request comes, the panchayat and municipalities take initiative to bring the industry to their locality. So it is their choice to give land to the companies and decission is not forced on them.

When we talk about industrialisation, we welcome industries / roads / infrastructure to be built in our state. However if they want our house / plot of land, we protest & strike against them. Or else we r not bothered because it is somebody else house is demolished and they r on th pavement. It is a kind of slefishness. They cannot be blamed because they r kicked out frm place whre they are well settled for decades & they hv to start from sratch in another location.

The only way to solve this issue is to compensate them for their lost properties , to meet the expenses for the relocation etc. The land must be priced at a higher rate than the existing price, because they are sacrificing their well being and others in the locality r benefitting. So they must well compensated. It is a pity that politicans are always behind these companies because they can fill their pockets and never support poor peopl
