Specialy regeionally biased mumbaikars who support such idiotic parties like MNS. It is definitley true that Delhi is far superior to Mumbai or any other city in India in infrastructure, trade & Manufacturing Industry. It is hub of Automobile ,Pharma, Consumer Durables,Services like IT & BPO, Real Estate Agro Products ,Exports & many other industries. These industries not just have their HQs , but factories/operations as well in NCR region. This is unlike Mumbai which boast of 35% corporate tax filing from cos in that city. But people don't realise that the profits on which these cos file tax are from sales all over India also exports. However this is at corporate HQ level, whereas there is not much other economic activity happening in that region. That reflects on the actual sales & Income tax colection from Mumbai & not the corporate tax collections. Also the perception that Delhi gets money from Center is far fetched , as the local tax collection in Delhi is 5th among all states in India & the size of Delhi is much smaller than those other 4 states ahead of it in Tax collection. This tax collection comes from economic activity of people of Delhi & the infrastructure development in Delhi comes from this local state tax. This is the reason not just infrastructure but per capita income is more in Delhi , as reflected by purchasing power of Delhiites- More cars in Delhi than combined total of Mumbai, Chennai & Kolkata. Finally any fool can tell why Delhi is the best

If tax collected / revenue earned from Mumbaikars and other Mumbai govt. undertakings (like local railways, Mumbai airport, Stock exchanges, etc) was used for Mumbai's infrastructure and not diverted to the s*h*i*t centre Delhi, things would have been different...

This guy seems to be carrying the complete lekha jhokha of where the money collecected from Mumbai Airport, Stock exchange is being spent. He knows where is the money of local railways going :) Anyways, I was watching the serial "Walk the Talk" on NDTV where Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal was the guest of Shekhar Gupta. He also had a similar problem about ignorance of Central Govt. Central govt will invest in areas where there is no electricity, people sleep hungry or dying of hunger. Now Govt of India runs a Budget defict every year coz of subsidy and other loss making PSUs.

And we morons hyprocrites, writing on Rediff forums are the culprits of eating up the petro subsidy without burping. When Maharashtra govt gets the money, they spend it in their vote bank areas and not in Mumbai where so many people are from outside and elite class who dont go and vote. in Mumbai every one is so focussed on work (and local trains) that they dont even know that Autorickshaws of Mumbai are equally thugs as they are in Mumbai.

You are wrong on the tax collection argument.
Business/Entrepreneurs earn the maximum profit as they take the maximum risk, and these entrepreneurs have chosen and flourished in Mumbai. It is this entrepreneur's profit which is getting taxed.. not the steel from Jharkand. Do not confuse between the two.
It is the callous 'planning era' step-motherly treatment towards Mumbai who have not re-invested the tax money back into Mumbai to support the increasing load of migrants pouring into the city.
More cars on the road in Delhi and less in Mumbai because the British made local train network carry 10 times the capacity of Delhi.
Delhi is a city made up primarily of self-aggrandizing bureaucrats and corrupt politicians who only beautify their own surroundings at the cost of the really deserving i.e. Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad etc.

You are just turning blind eye to hard facts & the facts are that money generated by Corporates like Tatas, Amnbanis , Birlas , etc is not just from Mumbai or Maharashra, but entire India & North is the largest market for cos like Tata Motors & Tata Steel. The profit which Tata makes all over India are reported from their Mumbai HQs. This does not reflect real economic activity like manufacturing, trade, sale or purchase of goods or services in Mumbai. But all such things happen in Delhi. That is the reason that Delhi reports far higher Sale & Income tax collection than Mumbai, but lesser Corporate Tax collections. This tax collected by Delhi govt is invested back in infrastructure. Delhi's local politicians are not as corrupt as those from Mumbai or Kolkata for example . The local govt in Delhi has seriously invested in infrastructure development in Delhi. This is the reason Delhi has far out grown Mumbai in civic ameneties front. As long as Mumbaiites will blame outsiders instead of their local state govt for their troubles, their troubles will never be resolved. PS: Much of enterprenial activity in Mumbia is from Gujratis. Therefore its outsiders who have helped in making Mumbai a financial center.

Mr Prem Bharadwaj, you are again missing the point!
The entrepreneurs e.g. Tata/Birla buy raw materials like steel from Jharkhand after paying royalty and taxes to the Centre and Jharkhand State. They being entrepreneurs bring in capital and labor to convert the steel into finished products which are then sold for profit. It is the entrepreneur who is taking the maximum risk and therefore earns the maximum profit. It is this entrepreneur's profit which is the corporate tax (a Direct Tax) which Mumbai is contributing to the Centre and which Delhi is unfairly and underservingly using for its infrastructure.

Mr Milind Sabnis, you are again not accepting the facts. If Tata/Birlas/Ambanis, don't get raw materials & cheap labour from Jharkhand, Oriisa ,WB, MP, etc, & also if they don't have rich market like North , they won't be making any profits by making & selling their products in Mumbai. The reason for them making Mumbai their HQ are historical & it happened more than 50 years back . Given an option now, they would definitely relocate their HQ to Delhi like most MNC's did & are doing owing to its better infrastructure. Also again i would like to help you understand that its not Mumbai's money but local money generated by economic activity in Delhi , which has led to its development.

Mr Milind Sabnis Seems like Rediff moderator is baised towards Mumbai & therefore would not let me to reply to your comments. But I am repeating myselfy finally just for your benefit & to the benefit of other cribbing babies that pls don't confuse Corporate tax , reported from corporate HQ on Profits made by operations all over India, with local taxes reflecting local economic activity like sale & Purchase. Plain & simple Mumbai does not generate as much money as Delhi money on its own econimic activity & if Maharashtra politicians don't invest Mumbai's local tax collections in Mumbai but in their rural Maharashtra's constituencies, then its a problem between Mumbaikars & Maharashtra govt. Pls don't take credit for Delhi's development as it happened due to hard working & biasless Delhiites . All the best for Mumbai......

I think u are right Prem. let me explain with an example. Tata makes cars. They buy raw material from outside. pays central taxes on importing the parts in ports (anywhere, not only Munbai) He sells major chunk of cars in Delhi & North (assumed). A major chunk of tax is collected from buyer including Octroi, Sales tax and everything else which is paid by Delhi buyer. Plus he got his earning from the price of car in Delhi. Now if he lives in Mumbai, he declares his profit and tax in Mumbai. This does not mean that Mumbai generated that revenue for Indian Govt. Mumbai politicians have spreaded this misinformation for their own reasons.

Mr Prem Bharadwaj,
I am repeating again... When Tata/Birlas buy steel they legally pay taxes and royalties to the Centre and Jharkhand state. So there goes your argument that taxes paid from Mumbai are not from Mumbai.
Regards your market from the North, it is a free market with companies fiercely competing for selling their products and the North customer has the right to choose the product as per their wishes. They choose Tata/Birla because these cos bring out the most cost efficient and quality product which makes it a best buy product. Thus it is the entrepreneur who does all the hard work of getting labour and capital together creating and selling of a quality product leading to corporate profit. It is this corporate profit of entrepreneurs which is getting taxed by the Centre that I am referring to.
It is more than 60 years since the British left India and Mumbai has continued to remain one of the most favourable cities for conducting business. It is deteriorating now since the Centre is unfairly not supporting Mumbai's infrastructure which is bringing down Mumbai.

we welcome that delhi and noida should develop rapidly, so that migrants influx in mumbai will be reduced, and presently living mumbaikars will get some relief. If delhi and noida is so much developed then why peoples from north india are still coming to mumbai despite delhi and noida is nearer to them.

If you consider MNS as idiotic party , I am not sure whether you consider BSP , SP , Akali Dal , RJD , AGP (Asaam) , ML (Muslim LG), PDP , NC( Kashmir) as nationalist party. Basic fact is National interests cannot be achieved by neglecting aspiration of local people. Maharashtra is unnecessarily tolerating bullying of hindi belt. Like southern states it should have taken two language decision in 60s. Regarding current state of Mumbai if you move around city with open eyes for few days you can understand who is responsible for it along with corrupt politicians/ burocrats.
