It Differs
by karthick on Jul 01, 2008 12:49 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

It differs from person to person. Though the article is mostly right there are some points to consider.
The writer is CEO from a executive search firm. So he indirectly lists his problems and an article like this essential to make his job easier.
Also in the example given, when a person cant handle a company in which he has worked for so long and knows the business model cant run it smoothly, how do u expect him to run a mid level company where the challenges will be lot more than an established one and make is successful. A person incapable of excelling in a known environment will hardly be successful in a new environment.
About the plane incident too.. Not all the executives will decide unanimously decide to badn a candidate. It depends on their targets and pressure at that time, particularly in the industry that opearates in "your loss is my gain" model.

Thank you. I am sure too that recruiters will rememeber and spread all -ves about you. But thats all they can do to vent out their anger. It may or may not get you into trouble.
But at times like this, when employers badly need employees and too many head hunting agencies out there.. it wont spoil the employees chance a great deal IF he is really capable and has the right skill.

fact is if organisation needs you , the will take you . things might be differnt at entry - middle level at it company, where you are talking abt same technology and skill, employee can be choosy. but in typical FMCG / Consumer durable industry , employer are generally ok with it. No body puts you on bad list . Ya there will be other insatnce also , but generally this is the trend
