Nice article %u2026 but its incomplete %u2026 they have mentioned only about the GPS device & s/w , they have not mentioned any detail about the cost of GPS service in India.

Oh Hello. its not free....actually the device has to be connected to some device which can communicate with the satellite ... Probably your cell phone.. so you shall either have to connect the device to your phone or there will be a GSM kit to insert the sim into.. :).. and you shall have to pay monthly rent for the sim...

Dude, there is no need for SIM card for GPS. You are confusing GPS with GSM mobile service.
GPS service is absolutely free except for the initial cost of the device and cost for getting the map software and updates. Once you have these, you can use it for free for as long as you want.
The satellite service is free for all, given by the US government.

Parichay, there is no cost for GPS, the main cost is of the device, maps and major map updates. Initially there will be some problems but once the maps get better it will work more than satisfactorily.

There is no cost for GPS service. It is provided by the United Stated government and it is free for civilian use around the world. But higher accuracy service is reserved for the US military.
