I'm surprised at the tone of Mr.Ratan Tata which is "ok! it will be a one lakh car at the dealer's end". It was his stated intention and Vision to make a car for 1 lakh and it is not that everybody begged him to make a car for that amount. There is no charity here. By saying that the dealer price is 1 lakh, if he thinks that he has delivered on his commitment, let him delude himself and many others who have gone gaga over this.
I am really keen to know what the on-road price of this car, say in the least expensive place New Delhi (where the taxes are low to pamper the inhabitants of the Capital).
Whatever it is, that will what the car ought to be known as? Not the ex-factory or the showroom or the dealer price!!
Well the car has just been unveiled and it is quite early to throw brickbats on the design or go gaga over its performance.
There is no publicly defined yardstick for any of the Civilian awards from the Padma Shri to the Bharat Ratna and so those with proximity to the powers-to-be can be and are awarded. We can debate about Bharat Ratna to Ratan when there is some official announcement.

Dear Friend I agree that Bharat Ratna should not be given to RT but my friend please explain why Rajiv Gandhi was given one, a person who said that if a big tree falls there are consequences when sikhs where getting butchered. Anywasy beside the point. The point here is RT is a businessman not a Philanthropist and we Indians have a bad attitude of expecting rich wealthy innovative people to give away everything for free. Giving something away for free reduces its value. Even after taxes the base model should cost about 1.3 Lakhs which is still cheaper my friend. It can go a long way in replacing Autorickshaws/Cycle Rickshaws etc. Now we need to concentrate on the next problems Infrastructures/Parking Spaces, Widening of roads.
