Approval of Lok Sabha??
by dys on Feb 27, 2008 06:06 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

It says 'approval of lok sabha is mandatory for the Budget to come into effect.'

I want to know... has it ever happened that a proposed budget could not get this approval??? I can't remember any in recent past!

Anyone knows?

i think in every budget certain changes have been made after listening to the views of the MPs.. since a budget touches on such diverse issues i think its impractical for a budget to get rejected completely

every budget is approved by Lok Sabha. It is not mandatory it is also approved by the Rajya Sabha. If Lok Sabha accepts even Re1 change in budget, the government (not only the finance minister) has to resign.

Budget is submitted by the ruling (majority)party , 99% budget gets approved, if not opposition can bring no confidence motion against the ruling party and chances of disolving the government are more
