There should be uniformity in Indian education system till PhD level. All these brand names like IIM, are employed only to create a divisive attitude among the professionals. This is not uncommon in India. Infact, this is the characteristic feature of India -- Divide.
How many innovations have come from these elite institutes? The open source free software foundation, which is dominated by college dropouts, produces 1000 innovations per day (not statistically speaking, but just literally -- I know an IIM grad will comment, if not clarified). How much do they charge? How much does an IIM grad charge? Since the world is dominated by dumbos like Ambani, Gates and Bush, these grads are having a good time.
Everything in the world (from education to law) should follow the open source model. Then these pseudo-intellects (including the author of this article) will be thrown out.

I am very happy with my job. That's why I can make these kinds of statements. A frustrated loser won't talk about open source model :)

where is the motivation dear in open source people ultimately get hitched to some good companies for getting a stable life isn't it. The maintenance becomes a huge problem. and moreover software can be open source but what about steel pharma and things how can you open source them. There is a different and characteristic dynamics of every industry they usually innovate and progress in their domain its useless to question their effort.

But there are these many things that can be turned in to open source model:
a) Education b) Consulatancy (legal, techinical, financial and medical) c) Media and Journalism (wikinews, youtube are great examples) d) Arts e) Scientific research f) Stock market g) and so on
May be, everything except the "manufacturing" you mention can be opensourced.
