It is not just Gujarat
by Anand Krish on Aug 12, 2008 12:31 AM   Permalink | Hide replies

Bombay too is all Gujarati. Most of Bombay is owned by Gujaratis. They own most businesses and properties. These guys are great. Before 15 years I came with an M.Tech degree from Tamil Nadu to Mumbai. The engineering consultancy firm I worked for was promoted by a Diploma holder Gujju bhai. The company went on to employ 1200 Engineers and that Gujju gentleman sold the company to an Italian firm for Rs.2000 crore all cash.

I think we South guys should change the way we look at education. We would be better off hiring one Gujju bhai in each of our colleges instead of all these Masters and PhD's.

You are right, Anand Krish. But your initial statement - you having an MTech degree and the boss was 'only a diploma holder' - shows your arrogance that if you have a degree then you are better. This is not just you, even throughout India, this is the feeling - the more degrees you have, the more prestige! But what the hell do you do with the degrees? With your degree and two dollars, one could get a cup of coffee!! that is all! One has to have a business and entrepreneurship and the courage to take risks to succeed. The Gujaratis as a whole have it and that is why they are great business people.

Gujjus are good at business and money making only.
South Indians are best at technical education and skills, maths and subjects involving analytical knowledge. Nobody can match them in this regard.
