Thsi is only the beginning. By encouraging loan delinquincy by borrowing farmers, the congress is doing large scale and long lasting damage to the rural economy. Institutional loans are almost irrelevant for most farmers; they mostle depend on the local money lender. Now these people will refuse to lend or become very choosy, leading to a breakdown of the rural economy, food scarcity and famine. All this for just one election ? This is short sighted and politics of desperation, which unfortunately for the congress, may not succeed in getting them another term as has been historically demonstrated.
