NO they are desperately trying to wriggle out of the situation of commiting to global emission norms. Further the vieled threat is they want an agreement with restrictive clauses for India and China in case the USA is made to agree to any treaty. That is the meaning of the statement. Nothing new and certainly nothign to be proud of.

aree bewkoof, do you know wot america is talking about??? if india signs that treaty then india will be forced to reduce/control their green house emmisions. this will effect adversly the economic growth of india. however this will not be as adverse for america since they can use nuclear fuel. we on the other hand use fossil fuels extensively for everything. hence india will be at disavantage if it signs this treaty. and america is forcing india to sign it.

U.S is trying to maintain its powerful influence on the world by restricting economic development of India and China. Yes global warming is concern for all of us, and even without signing the treaty, India can look for alternatives to reduce emissions and take step forward to save ecology.

He is not Anti-US. He is being an Indian. Read the 3rd paragraph from last in the article and you will know the cruel intentions of US. They cannot accept the growth of any country. I too agree that India has to cut down pollution, but there are many ways of doing it like strict rules on automobiles, de-forestry and concentrating on recycling. I have been to different countries and I notice that Indians are very good at saving power. (whatever the reasons may be) But most of the other countries like UK, US etc waste a lot of energy. Go to office areas after dark and they leave all the lights "ON" even if no one is there. And then number of lights they use is significantly a lot more than what Indians use for the same size of office. Even huge office buildings will be glittering in the night with no one in the office at all. Especially US, most of the automobile engines have bulky engines like 3 litre, 4 litre and 5 litre and the emissions and the fuel consumption from these vehicles is unbelievable. And finally, if we consider the pollution per person in each and every country, I bet India is a lot better than most of the countries.

Stop being cynical, I see no reason to suspect that US is trying to scupper India's growth. Stop repeating the mistakes of Nehru who stayed away from all international agreements to form his own third club NAM which has since disintegrated. India is too important to the world and no major agreements can be signed-off withouth India's involvement and this includes the climate agreement. If we are to benefit from the opportunities offered by climate, we have to get on-board.

You need to have ur head examined for saying so. the US is not ur daddy. The US does everything in its interest, which is only natural. I can't believe that you have been brainwashed to the extent that you have. Too much CNN and etc. is not conducive to ur health.
