Forty percent of births are unintended. 5. Americans eat 815 billion calories of food each day - that's roughly 200 billion more than needed - enough to feed 80 million people. 6. Americans throw out 200,000 tons of edible food daily. 7. The average American generates 52 tons of garbage by age 75. 8. The average individual daily consumption of water is 159 gallons, while more than half the world's population lives on 25 gallons. 9. Fifty percent of the wetlands, 90% of the northwestern old-growth forests, and 99% of the tall-grass prairie have been destroyed in the last 200 years. 10. Eighty percent of the corn grown and 95% of the oats are fed to livestock. 11. Fifty-six percent of available farmland is used for beef production. 12. Every day an estimated nine square miles of rural land are lost to development. 13. There are more shopping malls than high schools.

Well, thats true, but we should not ignore sound, air and water pollution in our country. All government busses pollute air as if it were thermal gas plant!!! Dare to stand on the right side of any bus/ truck in India...

wrongly understood. It is about the intellectual capacity but the energy consumption. As an example, a typical American burns 370 electric bulbs everyday than an Ethiopian who burns only one bulb.

You are right friend,US has to controll environmental pollution first.The energy consumption in US is more than India and china.They are the one emitting more and more ozone in the atmosphere but they need to drag the developing countries support to get money for their new inventions.
