Bangalore is the most efficient place in terms of getting the passport issued, renewed or which ever service one requires. It doesnt take more than3 weeks to get a new passport and the system is really efficient. But if one compares this system with other places, it is really horrible. For example Mumbai.. probably 6 months is a cool time.. Similarly the other places like Delhi and Chandigarh also take equal amount of time for issuing a simple document, called passport. Due to this delay in issuing the passport, the role of middle men, agents begins and they start getting the passports on fraudulent documents. And the story continues.

Beg to disagree with S Vats...Being born and brought up in Mumbai, had applied for my passport personally and not via an agent in Mumbai passport office. Managed to get it in 3 weeks flat. This was way back in 2000 just after my graduation. Other members of my family have also managed to get it in more or less the same time frame. And yes, the police verification was smooth and professional. I am not sure how people can compare performances with other cities for issue of a fresh passport, coz once you get it...its valid for 10years and hence there would be no need to apply for it from any other city...unless the document is lost or damaged.
