There go the chest beaters
by Gus Wish on Oct 15, 2007 08:31 AM   Permalink

I was surprised to know curriculums are debated in such open forums. And that seems something great. Probably word US centric is not accurate description. US drive or US derived education is better word. After we Indians are smart and we don't want to reinvent all over again. So it's nice to look around and see what's been already done. And US is where this concept of MBAs to run business emanated. So clearly there influence will be predominant. Maybe there are some great MBA courses in France, Germany etc. But they don't come forth and we don't have time to learn their language first.

It's just like why English Premier League is more popular in India than La Liga. Former talks language we understand and know and probably that's inspired Indian Hockey League.

Chest Beaters, get off this. This aint' nationalistic discussions. It's about academics and business.

Are our IIMs overly US-centric?
