Dear Sunita Narain, I hate the term "landless farmer" In fact, they are not "farmers" but they are just labourers working in farm owned by someone. Can you call a factory worker a FACTORYLESS INDUSTRIALIST? NO And their employer farmers and govt must be blamed. Why? because, govt declares minimum wages policy, but never enforce it whole-heartedly and your landless farmers endup with less than half wages then what they should get. Then why are you joking around our industrialists, finance minister and prime minister? They are contributing in their own way for development. Regarding GAP garments and 'Slave Blouses', please note, go to outside world and see in Europe and North American media and newspapers. Whenever any news is printed about india, majority of them are just 'anti india' news, highlighting only few isolated examples of bad things happenings in remote corner of India. They highlight the matter (like child labour for Gap garments) soooooooo much that outside world comes under impression that in india everything is produced by ONLY child labours!!!! Do you think india is a country of billion plus children below 18 yrs? Do not be impressed by negative criticism of outside world. Try your best to make our india best. One more thing. If our one billion household people are richer than british people, still, british media will highlight only remaining 50 million poor only ..... and never success of our billion people!!!!

Mr. Desai do you know the meaning of Landless Farmer? It means that some rich farmer has given his land to some poor man and takes half or 2/3 crop as his royalties. These goes on for years and rich and lazy land owner makes money.. I hope this clarifies.. I know some dozen lazy farmers and their sons.

Dear Sir, In your definition, Lanless Farmers are similar to a taxi driver who does not own a taxi. That person uses someone's car, pay daily or weekly or monthly rent and use it as taxi. Then, it is his luck or hard work or both together responsible for the income out of it. In your definition, the landless farmer is exactly similar to a taxi driver who does not have his own taxi. And I will never call them Farmer, they are just labour class poor people who work in farm. Similar to millions of factory workers. Now, if your landless farmers have to pay so much royalty and at the end of day or end of year, if they do not get enough return, let them not do it!!! Why do they do such foolish business which does not give enough return? Better, let them find other job elsewhere. In fact, the problem is that they are probably not fit to do any other job. And the fault is with the system, not with an individual landless farmer or a farm labour. If you remember, in 1956 the congress govt had ammended our constitution and "everybody in our country has right to education" was added to our constitution by govt led by Nehru. Since then, more than 50 years have passed. With majority of time congress party ruling central and many state govts. Still, what is the situation today? You know how many illeterate or uneducated people are there in our country And those landless farmers or farm workers not being fit for any other job is the fault of our own system created by politicians

Dear Mr. Desai,
Thanks for nice explanation. I agree with your "Taxi Driver" example. As you have correctly pointed out, these landless farmers are mere labors and don't have any skills. Jamindars are just sucking thier blood as there is no protection (in terms of labor laws etc. practically exists). Since, they are not educated it adds more budron unto India and you have correctly said that they don't have any other useful skills. I feel real horrible and I can see you feel the same way about these folks that they are just taken for ride. It's not easy for them to give up even if they have bad end of bargain as no option exists. Did you see another article today about India has highest number of illeterates?

Dear Nanda Suta Das, Thanks for sharing my idea, rather I am happy that there are people like you who have similar thinking with me. Talking about our country is like six blind persons exploring an elephant .... nobody can be perfect, only we can have guesstimate. Still, I always appreciate people who are very sincerely exploring different ways to bring up our country and living standard of our people But it is also bitter reality that even after two generations after independence, we have missed bus In fact, if the liberalization of economy was put in practise in early fifties, then our country would be ranking in top five today, even ahead of China. But thanks to Nehru/indira Gandhi philosophy, we have so many million illeterate people to feed take example of 1971 election, mantra from congress party of Garibi Hatao ... and today the third generation so called leader Rahul is telling the same story of Garibi Hatao in Gujarat elections ... And even after few more generations, situation will never change unless the most corrupt congress party is totally demolished...

Farmers are no one to be blamed. Why do we drag them, rich or poor.
Our western vision, pure Capitalism and pure Communism and pure Socialism are to be blamed.
It has to be best of all, our Way, Hindu way of life. Where every one has same share with equal responsibility with consensus. The kind of democracy too can be blamed where 5-10% (aware/anware) people decide fate of 100% people. Improve it. I read Sri Advani once advocating about it.
Remember, the Golden Sri Lanka wa burnt because it had wealth without Sanskaar. America faces same thing. China is heading toward same thing.
We still have time, we have knowledge, we have history to learn from. Create Wealth with human value ( Sanskaar). We loos money, we will get it again. We loose sanskaar, it takes years to restore it. Agian, don't look at me with business-schools' eye because they are taught by western mind with immature knowledge. There are lot of human-research done already. No need to look toward west. Let us have confidence in ourself and act. Blame no one. Improve ourselves
