entry and qualification requirements for Marine PIlots
by Kshitij Rustagi on May 29, 2007 04:46 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

Hello people

This is only for people who are in the merchant Navy and Indian Naval forces who have qualified for their Master's Competency Certification exams and have then passed them it is not for freshers out of college as this requires you to have sailed onboard shps fr atleast 8 years only then you can qualify for Masters Competency exams. The whole thing is people just read 22 lacs and thing man I can do it especially young guys......... but I am sorry that is not for you it is for people who are already captains or have a Masters COC from MMD India or any other white list nation and only then you can start the classes for a pilot and then once that is complete there is an exam which has a pass percentage of just about 2-5 % as it is a very difficult exam and then you have to join a port as a trainee pilot and then after 2-3 years you become a fully licensed pilot ONLY FOR THAT PORT NOT ANY PORT as if you want to join any other port it is the same way again all over just that you will not be joining as a trainee pilot for a long time....

So people leave this alone and dont even go there it is a useless job and very low paying that is why there are very few pilots as this article writer did not mention these are all government jobs and very few private ports so very few private jobs namely two they are JNPT in Mumbai and Hazira with reliance and no other I am a sailor of 12 years experience and dont even wanna go that way ...... SO KEEP CLEAR OF IT

Thank you very much Mr.Rustagi for your valued inputs. You have once again proved like many others that Rediff comes with many exagerated articles misguiding many of its readers. Rediff sucks!...
