no wonder chidamabaram is called chidu > absolutely lopsided tax polices. Better to remove all these so called exemptions , keep a uniform tax rate of 15% . based on voluntary assessment , and gv gradually increasing incentives to individuals who pay higher taxes. full stop.

I totally agree. This will reduce all the administrative costs and will encourage people to pay the tax on correct amount and remove black money.
Afterall if Honesty is not rewarded then how long will some one like to be honsest and appear fool..

Doesn't matter..let them not do it corrrectly. Point is ..incentive to declare honestly shd be vgood, compliance base increase by just 20% ...can u imagine the figure! coupled wth no fear of punishmt shd motivate the populace and help the nation immensely .
