A few facts about present salary/PLI disparity between Air India (AI) and Indian Airlines%u2019(IA) employees.
1. Salary revision w.e.f. Jan,1997 had taken place in AI for most of the Employees but for IA it had yet to be done.
2. Present salary of AI employees after revision is less than those of IA even without revision.
3. Salary of IA employees would be 10 to 12% more after revision than those of AI whose salary revision had already taken place.
4. There is already huge disparity in PLI between IA & AI. At preset IA employees are getting much more PLI than those of AI. Example :- AI Manager get PLI Rs.10000 to 15000 per month depending on varying parameters whereas IA manager get Rs.45000 (Forty five thousand) per month fixed (no variation).
5. After merging of IA with AI, Salary/PLI of IA employees may get revised at per with AI employees. In that case they would be suffering with huge financial loss.
6. If AI employees%u2019 salary/PLI is made at per with IA then AI employees would get huge financial gain. Not only this, in such scenario present AI management had to pay arrears to all it%u2019s employees from Jan, 1997 for salary and from Aug, 1996 for PLI.
Under the above circumstances, the only solution is to close down IA and that%u2019s what Mr. Praful Patel is trying to do. He would soon declare lock-out in IA and then close down it.

The best option would be, shut down entire operations of AI, IA, AIExp, Alliance Air; then, settle all the dues to all the employees, settle all the suppliers, dissolve all these 4 airline companies, send all the employees to home as they dont deserve to work there. Form a new airline company with all the aircrafts from these 4 airlines, form a professional management group to run the show, hire effificent cabin crew and ground staff and pay them according to their ability as well as according to international standard. Then, we can see the results. This is the only possible way; all other ways like negotiations, talks, discussions are totally waste and wasting manhours.

Hi Dragon Cares,
What you are talking about is completely impossible in current scenario. These are the reasons why:
1. The current liability of the aforementioned comapnies to its employees, suppliers and other far outweigh the current cpital reserves it has. So, if the Govt wants to wipe down the Airline business, then it would be a huge financial loss.
2. If such a decision is taken even in face of accruing the loss and putting the burden on the taxpayers' shoulders, then too it would take minimum of 3-4 months to shut down the complete business and settle all dues. During that period, how do you think the whole air travel is going to be managed? Should we stop all air travel to, from and within our country for the next 3-4 months??? Just think how devastating it can be for the whole economy.
3. Currently most of the aircrafts owned by IA, AI, and subsidiaries are aged and there is no point in re-using them for a new airlines as that would require a revamping of the fleet within a few years, thus sky-rocketing the initial costs of setting up the business. It is unacceptable by any conscient businessman and even if the Govt does that, it would have a very long term economic consequence on the whole economy.
4. Currently there is a death of skilled technicains n cabin crew in the airlines industry. How would u make sure tht d same ppl wont b hired again? From where would you bring so many new experienced employees??

well, if the IA and AI don't merge, then they will withdraw the strike is it? So that time, the money is not important? Come on, if 2 entities merge its a strategical decision and how come they demand more money and in what way their work will be different?

Indian airlines and Air india should be privatised. You can get rid of some of the waste candidates in the higher position being from certain reservation category.
So this company will become profitable and equal salary request/protest can be considered as legal
