Can we boast of a Mercedes level IT product? We are still on the services bullock-cart and want to be Global IT Research Giants? The entire IT structure has to be revamped? In my time I have seen Managers managing hi-tech projects but having ZERO technical knowledge. All the best IT brains would prefer to be on the H1B plane then work under such incapable and incompetent managers.

This is unrealistic when you don't have the supporting ecosystem for it.
USA has over 100 reseacrh level univs, even its more average univ has better facilities than the iiT'S,top notch professors from around the world conducting research, funds from NSF,young men gifted with immense resources with the public librairies and the purchasing power of a developed economy. And the small matter of finding excperinced people who have been involved in product development before and been through it all before.! how many such people are there in india?
without building on such supporting environment, innovation will only remain a pipe dream.

Current state of IT companies in India:- 1) There is a mad rush to get rich, MONEY comes first, then CLIENT. 2)Best practices, CMM levels, Software Engineering, Human Capital Management, Service Level Agreements, Software Testing (All the Jingos)etc...are just that - Words. Nobody knows how to get these words to work for them. 3) The BEST man. Every project has one - the guy who is technical wizard. He is the sheep who is fleeced to warm the butts of his incompetent team members and his technically DUNCE manager. He is the bread winner for them all. 4) Most people will stick to this best man , or play to the insecurities of their managers. All to just get more money in next appraisal or get a lucrative onsite posting. Adding VALUE to work. What? 5) BEST MAN is always trying to run from company to company or fly-off to America. He is sick of being a charitable institute.

6) HR guys? They know that they are dealing with slave labor. According to them these machines just know money and are not supposed to be understood. 7) The people are compartmentalized. You have Testers, Developers, Managers, Leads, Facilities, HR, Finance, Senior Management ALL working without any knowledge of OTHERS. Seldom they realize that the best product development companies are knitted as closely as families. Knitted with the BEST!!

8) Every wondered why is it that only INDIAN companies are trying for CMM level certifications? By Indian I also mean Indian subsidiaries of MNC's. 9) Anybody who speaks of cleansing the system is mercilessly discarded. Talk about feudal culture and honest assesments. 10) Yes. I don't have a job.
