I am an American of Indian Origin in software business. My quality of life has gone down due to outsourcing. All the people whom I know will not vote for anyone in favor of outsourcing.
While India has benefited by outsourcing we feel that Indian general public has not benefited. They are given a few thousands of rupees more but the cost of living in India has gone up same thousands. People who are with outsourcing jobs or corrupt businesses or corrupt government officials do well but all others are left behind. Borrowing is at its maximum. Credit card companies and Banks are new Jamindaars.
People who have benefited are big corporations like Infosys, Wipro, Reliance and many others. They have not proportionately shared the wealth with people. India is drunk with the power of consumerism but it will soon realize when this hangover subsides that in this orgy of cell phones and TV channels millions and millions are left behind and pushed below the new poverty line. The economical rat race without support for the poor has very few successes and rest land up on Shrink's chair or worst into the criminal world.
While Socialism is probably one of the worst thing that happened to India the worst then that is haphazard Capitalism. In the west capitalism is controlled. Government takes care of Children, Communities, poor, ill and old. While in India there is nothing planned. All these monies are going in some already fat pockets. He is still an American,even though his parents immigrated.He swims or sinks like the rest of Americans.
Everyone in the Western Hemisphere is an immigrant or son of an immigrant including American (Red)Indians if you go far back enough in time.
Man is a visitor to the entire planet Earth and not quarantined to any particular locale.

Recently I saw a movie called "Apharan". Even if that was exaggerated if this is what happens STILL in India then there is no point in supporting the country. If the riches and political parties of India are sucking the blood out of people of India then why should NRIs do anything? We would like to support India but not for these things. If people or India don%u2019t want to help India why would we sacrifice our standard of living to fill all those fat pockets?
