What a shame that people will believe whatever is published!!
by Genuine Gal on Jul 03, 2007 04:24 AM   Permalink | Hide replies

This study is a load of crap, and international propaganda to keep India down. I have lived in America for years and have never seen an unhappier country given all their money and good health. India on the other hand is far more secure and happy with whatever income level a family belongs to. Ask your hearts people and see with your eyes. Don't you all see the difference. The West is headed for a plunge and is doing everything it can in a desperate attempt to salvage its false sense of security and world domination

I have been in US for past three years and lived in Sweden and Norway for a year before that. About US, genunine gal, you are almost right. With all the materialism running through people's body, this is the best example of only-me-matter society. Certainly, it is a great place for individuals who want to prosper and have skills to do so since individualism is what this country is based on but obviously, such people are few and far in between.
Interestingly, I found people in Sweden and Norway really happy and the main reason was the socialist (not communist) policies by the government. It gave equal access for health and education to everybody without discrimination. Unfortunately, such a model can work for countries like these whose population is less than that of Delhi. For India, we can't do away with a wide social and economical fragments thanks to the population. It is foolish to compare countries with such widely different demographics, resources and cultures. But even then, I strongly feel that for a country whose people don't have enough compared to west, I find Indians surprisingly not-so-sad.

Good to see your comment....& you are right also....it is there....but one fact is also true(I don't know which part of India you live in)if you move away from metro & heads towards town or villages India is not shining that brightly what we see in places like Mumbai, Delhi or Bangalore....the problem is proper money distribution, Beaurocracy, lack of education & infrastructure, centre & state govt differences, lack job/business opportunity, poor medical facility (Jholachap doctors are giving treatment)& many more...the list is really big...I have been to different places & beleive me the condition is worst.....I know things can improve but political & people will is require......

Yes. U are right. In rural India, the condition of living and economic secutirt need to be improved. In metros and towns too, many slum areas need to be improved. Then we can say...we live satisfactorily. For this, we need socio-political change in our country.

There are 3 types of population in India
1) Miniscule%. Who despite the odds, relentlesly try to make a difference for e.g The guy who brought RIT act, baba amte who rehabilitates leprosy patients etc.
2) Extremely High %. People who call such report as bogus, lies and try to kill the messenger rather than analysing the message. And like frog they think the well they live in is the best of the world.

Genuine Gal belongs to the #2 category.

sorry forgot the 3rd type.
3) High %. We are poor, we are dirty, we are lazy but our spirits are high. And yes look at our culture, look at our mahatma gandhi; Half of us neither follow the gandhi's principles, Sardar patel's determination or respect our culture. How many of us celeberate our culture of Vasant Utsav and plant trees on that day, but we are quick to adapt valentines day.......well i think i said enough who cares anyway,
