Forget wat our forefathers did thousands of years ago. We dont have any proofs of that. The best practical example is in the defence industry. After investing thousands of crores of rupees in LCA India is still waiting for it. After investing thousands of crores of rupees in Arjun tank still its not ready. We always keep on buying these things. And then the countreis hype the maintenance charges. Who knows the stands those countreis will take in case of a war. Say in case of and Indo Chinese war. Russian companies may simply refuse to cooperate. In case of Indo Pak war European and Us companies may simply remain neutral and not help us with the spare parts. India is still to be tested in a long drawn out war against a major adversary which i beleive India will not be able to stand. Because simply our defense industry is in shambles. China has over 2000 air Fighetr jets and most of them home made. And India have 700 most have them Russian made. I think India should realise this thing and dont be foolishly proud of themselves. Anybody who has read the economic deppresion of late 1920s will agree that the depresion can happen to India at any time. Say tommorow if america is destroyed or its economy is destroyed for any reason. Indian economy will be destroyed the same day. Every major country has made the computers in its native language. I mean i feel very low when i see that computers have been made in portugese,Hebrew language. Portugeal and Isreal are smaller than UP. And we

Continued- And we are still waiting for computers in Indian languages. And i dont see what india has done in IT. No OS or major application Software has been made in India. Ya i belive and agree whith those who say that India should not foolishly be proud of itself. Even in terms of nuclear technology, Indias command and control system in so poor that its not even comparable to the world standards. Its just that at present Indian Economy is growing and that too is dependent on the health of US and European Economy. Even in missile techonoly India is still to have a capablity to strike china fully while China had the capability to strike across the globe decades back. Long ago as a teenager I read In Indian Express that Indian Surya missile will be ready by mid 2001 with a capability of 5000 kms. Ha Ha Ha (laugh of shame and anger).

Couple of Linux OS is there in indian languages (regional), though not popular coz us indians don't want to use our own language but english. i do agree that in R*D not much is spent & our economy does depend on growth of US & european economies. In defense its quite obvious as Nimitz is 3 times that of virat.

Japan suffered a heavy blow in the world war in the shape of nuclear bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki yet in 30 years after war the were the world force reckon with in technology and still are the leaders. Three out of every four items you pick will have "MADE IN JAPAN" written on it where as in India the ratio is 1 in 1000.
