My very sincere request to our beloved FM. Sir, many a times I have wondered at your initial freebies and exmptions and so called reduction options of reducing tax liability. But it takes a while after budget to read in between lines of what you propose for the salaried class. I would therfore request you to make it plain and simple. I am borrowing your own words. Widen the tax net, but reduce the rate. Keep a sum which is above last year for the purpose of IT exemptions. But reduce the percentage and have a common single digit percentage as IT for the purposes of IT computation for the salaried class. One more request! Scrap giving us the parting kick of cess and surcharge on Tax. As you have been stating, widening the tax net at a smaller percentage of tax would result on a higher tax accrual, as otherwise the non salaried and business class have still several ways of taking refuge by twisting various sections of law.
