somewhat correct

I think India has the potential to be everything, world power and what not. There are though some short comings I see and at the risk of sounding pessimistic I will go ahead and mention it/them.
I have seen many articles here in rediff and the comments posted below them. Many of them expose our parochial selves. They are full people wanting to kick people out of their city, out of their state, out of the country. I dont say it exactly reflects our country as a whole, but it does atleast to some extent. And we have people like this calling the shots- be it a language reservation, shiv sena and thackeray..the list is endless. it is very embarassing (not to mention scary) to think people can be so uncivilised.
2) We as a people (not generalizing, but mostly) are full of apathy. for example just look at the traffic scene in any major city.
3) then come the most often said things- corruption, red tape..basically a sick system (again not in all places) that can tire a productive and capable person.

having said this, there are some things i am utterly proud of.
-i think we have a very good education system.
public health- maybe struggling but not as screwed up as in many other places.
-personally, a family system i love.
- culture- art, festivals, food..unparalled!

Well good observations, I am glad you point good and bad things. I feel as the awareness grows with the feel good attitude about the country the negative factors should eventually! fade away. May be in 30/40/50 years? I cannot guess.
