FYI : In US in many places the speedlimit is 65 mph (104 kmph) and it is a familiar sight to see the traffic, especially the ones on the left-most lane driving at 85 (136 kmph) or above!

However, it is also true that motorists violating the speed limit on US roads are regularly intercepted and booked (especially on the eastern coast) and perhaps more importantly, that there is no chance for the violator to escape by paying a bribe amounting to a fraction of the applicable fine !! This perhaps is one of the most vivid reminders of the chasm that exists between two societies in terms of the quality of life for the common man.
