Smoking and drinking is personal decision
by Srijan Sonal on Apr 12, 2007 07:14 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

Anyone who smokes or drink does that on his own wish. May be he is addicted after sometime which is again what he chose. A govt imposed ban is against human rights. You can ban smoking and drinking in public but not when one desires to do so in non public area.
This time in kerala it is Traders who are imposing the ban.. It is their way to protest... That is also fine.. It is against the companies whom they would want to pay the VAT instead of them.. Traders will suffer, companies will have to face some loss and also the smokers in the state will have tough time, purchasing ciggerates at higher rate or sometime not able to get them... Who would be happy ????
If smoking is bad, Govt should fund more of voluntary organisations who helps in quiting smoking or rehabilation (Cognitive cases)....

Nothing sort of imposed ban will happen. Kerala have a great resource for beedi. A smoker himself can make his own beedi and smoke.

In every nook and corner beedi is available. Made on order beedi.

By heart people from kerala loves beedi. So this strike won't effect the smokers.
