We need Mr Narayana Murthy at much higher level
by B Vijaya Kumar on Jun 25, 2006 12:28 PM   Permalink | Hide replies

Mr Narayana Murthy is not unique when he preached and practiced business ethics but what is more important is that he brought in imagination, efficiency and effectiveness in his operations. Infosys is perceived to be the most ethical organisation and is highly successful. Reliance is perceived to be low on ethical standards but is still highly successful. What is common to both of them is that they have taken care of their shareholders and rewarded them handsomely. Whatever is talked of Late Mr Dhirubhai Ambani, he was the pioneer in rewarding shareholders, particularly shareholders and attracted common people to share market. So being ethical with good value systems is not sufficient, the leaders shall also bring in innovation and adaptability to make the organisations successful.

Now I request the political parties to consider Mr Narayana Murthy for the position of President after Mr Abdual Kalam. Whatever be the short comings of political parties, they gave us a good person like Mr Abdul Kalam as President, who ignited fire in the minds of people to dream and strive for achivieing them. I think Mr Narayana Murthy will be a worthy successor to Mr Abdul Kalam.

B. Vijaya Kumar, you have cited a good comparison of two highly successful organisations. Really a great point to ponder.

It is very rightly said that rewarding the shareholders is one of the important keys to success of the organisations.

I would go beyond it and add that 'It is the basic intention of achieving something great Achieving the goal that lead to the overall betterment and progress of the society as a whole.' which defines the success of the Company.
