airports privatisation
by v, rajappa on Jan 31, 2006 06:21 PM   Permalink

Sir, Privatisation has become the order of the day. Health, communications (telephones, courier service) hospitality industry, electricity, surface transport (excepting railways), electronic field, food, aviation, shipping,
drugs and medicines, private security, etc. have already been privatised and the competition is healthy. What is wrong in a private company taking over modernisation? When the government has the authority to supervisre and ensure quality, it is worth giving the option to private operators to carry out modernisation. The employees cannot hold public to ransom by resorting to flash strikes. How many people -sick, invalid, elders, pregnant women and those to attend important work are affected by selfish unions? The government should deal with this with an iron hand the implement Supreme Court's dictum in respect of strikes. We had enough of strikes all these five decades and let us not push India to doldrums. The government should firmly tackle the threat and be merciless to those who are paid by public. There are still ways to discuss the matter and come to an amicable solution and it is highly irresponsible to resort to strikes supported by vested interests.
