Can AAI really build world class airports
by Dr R Bhandary on Feb 04, 2006 04:40 PM   Permalink

I very much doubt the claims that AAI can modernise or build better world class airport. Despite being in the driver's seat for so many years, all the airports (including our national capital) are in a big mess and the officials / workers foul-mouthed.

AAI has had plenty of time to make their move but they haven't. I guess it's not possible anyway, when plenty of staff are undeserving and get through the back door or reservation quotas!

It's time that these airports are made world-class, especially in the face of our growing economy and foreigners visiting India more frequently. Kudos to the PM for having taken this bold step to privatise these two airports.

By the way, I think the staff are protesting as they will have to work for the money they are paid for rather than just loitering around. As far as the Cochin Airport example is concerned, what has been done for the other 100 odd airports in India, including the bigger ones, by the AAI.
