The government should check fleecing of the poor by corporate hospitals. It should ensure that the corporate hospitals provide subsidised medicare to the poor. Often it is found that the corporate hospitals are unnecessarily putting the patients in ICU. The hospitalisation costs have been driving the poor into debt trap. The government should strengthen State hospitals and primary health centres. Hospitals, jointly owned by the public and the private sectors, should be started in all over the country to provide cost- effective medicare to the poor.
