campus placements in IITs and IIMs has always being one of the inspirational factor for the students preparing for competitive exams. But if we look at the campus of such higly reputated colleges, we can find that in reality they are worth of more remuneration and perks. In such intitutes students are not only exposed to higly technical acadmics but also with the contemporary world of technology where they enculcate the skills required by the companies. Students here gain overall development, they have their own cell to develop college websites, participates regularly in hobby clubs, in sports, organizes many literary functions. In such events students organize and manage on their own which teachs them the management techniques. In other words IITs and IIMs open up the doors to the mordern world. I like the decision of IIT Kgp which restricted the placement to domistic companies only. At least the brightest students of India can be retained in their own nation. I don't want to debate on brain drain, but i now strongly feel that now our nation can provide the proper stage where they can grow and work for the improvized their own land.

Ya I agree. Now such hyped news about hgh and fat packages at IITs and IIMs is becoming stale. I think all these journalists are horribly awestruck by IITs and IIMs. Being an IITian myself I feel suffocated with this never ending hype by the media.

what are you, like 18 ? Just got into an IIT ? if no, then you have no idea what kind of 'managerial' skills most of the IITians develop while being in IIT. If yes, then you probably have still not gotten over the glitz and the glamour of the intial admission to an IIT. You probably have never pondered over the similarities of a tech education and management. Think about it. There are none. IITians make great managers just because in their 4 years they have been brainwashed to slug it out for 16 of the 24 hours and not make a fuss. During their bachelors, they get so plundered by all this 100K junk talk that when it comes to really deciding their careers, most of them just grab onto the highest bidder. Otherwise, what do you think these Mckinseys and LBs etc. are doing there. They are surely not there to hire people who are better at management than actual management graduates. They are there to hire non-questioning workers, you will work out of their skins just to save the corporations the expense they would have incurred on hiring 3 extra people.
Not saying though, that IITians do not have brains. Thats the one thing going for them...
