Truly admirable
by Deepa Prabhu on Aug 26, 2006 03:13 AM   Permalink

For quite a few years now this initiative has been underway and I have been studying it with great interest. It is really sad that apart from a few sporadic articles and media coverage the average Indian is quite shocking unaware of both, how many such efforts are happenning and how one can use it as well as help strengthen it. As always only when Oxford, MIT or Harvard (i.e. outside India) is it recognised that India takes note and even then in a very nonchalant manner. It has happenned with spirituality, with vegetarianism, with Yoga, with sitar and now with knowledge! Only when the AVERAGE Indian realises what our country has to offer, it's potential and gives it a committment to nurture it, only then there may be some hope. Till such time, we should just stop blaming the government for everything, including our lack of interest.
